Edmund R. Lemire, 98, formerly of Passaic, Westwood & Bloomfield NJ, died July 23, 2013 at Valley Hospital in Ridgewood . He was the husband of the late Elina (Cecchini) Lemire & Susan (Messina) Lemire.
Born in Harrisville Rhode Island, he was the son of the late Albert and Donalda (Cabana) Lemire.

Edmund worked most of his life in the food service industry including management positions with WT Grant, S. S. Kresge, his own Ice Cream parlor 'Uncle Eddie's' in Rutherford NJ and as an executive chef with Marriot Corporation.
He was a decorated member of the United States Army during World War II where he participated in the invasions of North Africa, Sicily, Italy, Southern France & Germany. He was a member and past commander of VFW Post 227 in Rutherford; and while in retirement in Carslile MA enjoyed hosting community breakfasts & barbecues. Edmund enjoyed woodworking as a hobby for many years. After losing his eyesight he moved into the Veterans Home in Paramus NJ where 'Uncle Eddie' preached positive attitude and commitment to family as the keys to long life.
He is survived by his sons, Edmund and his wife, Debra, of Milford PA, Frank and his wife, Alice of Montclair, NJ and Daniel and his wife Lori of Florida NY; his brother H. Jim Lemire of No. Smithfield, RI; and his sister Rita Thibeault of Blackstone, RI as well as his six grandchildren Jason, Leah, Molly, Jessica, Shannon & Caitlin and his great grandsons Zev & Esben. He was predeceased by his six brothers, Joseph, Frederick, Francis, Louis, Harold & Raymond Lemire; and his two sisters Celia Gaboury and Viola Bourassa.
